The Stuarts were a very large Stourbridge family who ran four glasshouses in the 1920s and 1930s. They went on to become the largest manufacturer in the post-war period but finally followed their
worldwide competitors as the demand for crystal collapsed at the start of this century.
In this book the history of the Stuarts is seen through the eyes of Christopher Stuart, a fifth-generation member of the family, who takes the reader around the factories with rich stories about the colourful craftsmen.
He also recounts his experiences of different glassmaking techniques at Stourbridge Art School in the 1960s.

This is an insiders account of Stuart Crystal. It combines an insight into the production process, a history of Stuart and a reminiscence of a career in the industry. I enjoyed the character descriptions of the board members and workers. For glass enthusiasts there are many photos of the products including some from the author's personal collection.
This is the definitive, inside history of the famous Stuart Crystal glass makers, authored by Christopher Stuart, a gifted glass maker and member of the Stuart Crystal family.
The amusing anecdotes and wisdom of Christopher Stuart are my favourite parts of this excellent book.
